UK Business Spotlight

We don't run a national contest with thousands of entries. Each award names a specific field, such as a trade in a town or a specialism nobody else covers, and says who the best business in it is, in the editor's judgement.

1. A field is named. Narrow on purpose: a trade, a place, a specialism.
2. The editor looks at the field. Who works in it, what they offer and how they're known. Sometimes the winner is the only business doing the work, and the citation says so.
3. A citation is written and published. It explains the award in plain words, with a film and a podcast episode alongside.

Many winners commission their feature from us. That pays for the citation, film and podcast; it doesn't change the criteria. Read the criteria.
